In the mid-1970s, the home-delivered meals market was poised for a prolonged period of explosive growth. Anticipating market needs, engineers at GMA (the predecessor of CoverTex) pioneered the Therm-O-Pouch delivery system in 1978. When our clients delivered their pizza and other fast foods in Therm-O-Pouch hot bags, improvements were immediately recognized.

  • Customers were happy. The home-delivered meals arrived hot and fresh, thanks to the thermodynamically designed containers that maintained foods at above specified temperatures and controlled for moisture.
  • Customers came back for more. Customers associated the vendor with good healthy food, an impression reinforced by the professional appearance of Therm-O-Pouch hot bags with their crisp corporate colors and logos.

    Therm-O-Pouch research is ongoing:
  • By the early 1980s, to help “sell the sizzle”, logos became a popular option, both traditional screen printing and 3-dimensional multi-color embossed logos.
  • In the 1990s, research into new materials and technologies resulted in additiional Therm-O-Pouch lines, allowing buyers to choose exactly the right product for their needs.
  • In 1995, to provide increased level of service, CoverTex became a separate corporate entity, assuming the operating assets of GMA’s food delivery division.
  • In 1996, a manufacturer of a new auxiliary heating device approached CoverTex for safe, efficient containers. CoverTex sourced and was granted independent research funding to produce these. Since then, CoverTex has designed, developed and tested Therm-O-Pouches for all types of add-on heaters. Our products are recommended by leading manufacturers.
  • In 2004 CoverTex begun importing bags from Asia in an effort to reduce customer cost and to provide larger volume customers the reward associated with volume purchasing.
  • In 2005 CoverTex initiated research on the VAC-PAC. This revolutionary insulated bag was later introduced into the market and continues to be a source of inovation.
  • 2006 was the year CoverTex purchased the Food Division of AcuTemp in order to provide our customers with a complete line of thermal management products.

Today, the food delivery industry continues to expand, and CoverTex remains your front-line supplier of all delivery products.
